Bia Conservation Area Project
The Bia Conservation Area is just over a year old with 1000 registered farmers. This project commenced as a result of an intervention by IFC through its BACP program to assist the farmers in the conservation area adopt sustainable best management practices for cocoa production. Currently there are 17 participating communities, some fringing the Bia National Park whilst others serves as a link to other forest reserves including Bia North and Krokosue Hills Forest Reserve. The project has a field office at Essam with a field staff stationed there. Farmers have been trained in good agricultural practices, biodiversity conservation and the SAN standard.
